Library Curriculum

"Twenty minutes of daily trade book reading beyond the regular reading program significantly increases student's reading achievement."  -  Block & Read, 2003     

Grade 4:  Skills include locating information, using references sources, and evaluating information.  Most classwork is kept in "Blue Books" for future reference.

Grade 3:  Locating resources throughout the LIbrary, parts of a book, using the glossary, index, and table of contents.

Grade 2:  Care of books, fiction/non fiction, author, illustrator, biographies

Grade 1:  Library behavior, care of books, author, illustrator, fiction/non fiction

Kindergarten:  Library behavior, care of books

Preschool:  Library behavior

Report Card grades are based on behavior, book returns, and written work.
