FRENCH - BOHEMIA MANOR HIGH- MRS BIRNEY

Grading policy

I. Grades will be either formative or summative.

a.       Formative grades will make up 25% of the marking period grade.

b.      Summative grades will make up 75% of the marking period grade.

N.B : this average may vary +/- 5%

 

II. Formative grades will consist of the following, and may be weighted from 1 to 3, depending on the assignment:

a.       Homework average(1-3)

b.       Composition Draft (2)

c.      Weekly Oral participation (2)(not for freshman seminar)

 

III. Summative grades will consist of the following, and may be weighted 1-2:

a.       Unit Tests (2)

b.      Quizzes (1)

c.       Performance tasks/Projects/Composition /Scenarios (2)

 

IV. Make-up policy

a. It is YOUR responsibility to make-up work. If you have questions/ requests, please see me BEFORE or AFTER class. You can also leave  a note on my desk

b. You will have one day per missed class to turn in missed work. (If you miss two days of class you have two days to turn in missed work.)

c. Missed tests and quizzes: It is YOUR responsibility to see me the day you   return to school to schedule the make-up date. Alternative assignments may be assigned to make-up a missed  project, depending on each individual circumstance.

 

VI. Late work

a. Late homework will not accepted

b. Summative work not turned in by the due date (beginning of class, end of class, or a specific date) may still be turned in for a lower grade.

        c. Your grade will be lowered by one letter grade per day late.

 

VII. Re-takes

a.    You must make an appointment on the inclass - appointment book

b.   Re-takes will be allowed for tests. However they must be completed within a week of the original assignment date.

c.    The original grade and the new grade will be averaged together and will replace the original grade.  This applies even if the new grade is lower than the original grade.

In order to provide the best environment for learning, ….

 

- Arrive on time : 3 lates will earn you a detention, 4 a referral to the office.

- Be prepared to work : as soon as you arrive , copy in your notes the date in

French and the day’s outcome(s).

- Keep your working area clean and good condition.

- Be respectful and polite to each others.

- Keep your notes organized.

- Do your homework.
