We are celebrating Camp Creek's GOLD AWARD for the state of Georgia on Thursday, February 16th! Please wear gold that day and be ready for a fun day. Valentine's Day is Tuesday, February 14th and we are having a party from 10 - 11 AM. We will be having a Valentine Box Contest. Your child has the specifications. Remember, we don't have school on Friday, February 17 or Monday, February 20th. Read Across America is Friday, March 2nd. We will celebrate by having everyone dress as their favorite book character. Start thinking now about your favorite character. Fourth Grade is having an in-school field trip on Wednesday, February 17th from Stone Mountain. My math class will have a test over Unit 6 on Tuesday, February 21st. Look for a study guide to come home. My Language Arts class will be reciting poems on Friday, February 24th. Ask your child what poem he/she chose to recite. Check out the Forces in Action website. Go to Student Links under science to find it. http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/kids Backyard Bird Count is going on February 17 - 20. Check out the ways you can participate. My Language Arts class has a Simile/Metaphor project due on Friday, February 10th. Check your child's binder for specific instructions. Visit physics4kids to find some fun and interesting information about the subject of motion that we are studying in science this nine weeks. The AR deadline for the third nine weeks is Friday, March 2. Students need to have a minimum of 10 points in their reading level by then. Please check out the Gwinnett Portal to see your child's grades. You need to register in the front office of Camp Creek to be able to get on the portal.
Be sure to check your child's agenda for upcoming tests. You can also check the website of the teacher your child has for each subject for updates. Check your child's Friday folder and be sure and initial their conduct sheet. I will be updating the curriculum page of my website each time we are learning new objectives. Read that page to find out what we are doing academically. You will also need to read the website page of your child's math and language arts teacher to find out what is going on in those classes.
Our class will be doing a lot of recycling this year. We are participating in the Terracycle program where we can earn money for each item recycled. The following are items we will receive money for: drink pouches, candy bar wrappers, chip bags, glue sticks, and old writing utensils. We are also recycling cardboard and plastic which I will take to my house for recycling.
