Mrs. LeEster Burch
HRH LeEster Burch Many years ago in a far away place, Mrs. Burch was born. LeEster, which rhymes with polyester, grew up in a land called Pflugerville, among fellow German pfolks, with six brothers and no sisters. Yes, she was spoiled. While growing up in the country, she showed animals in the local stock show, played in the world famous Pflugerville Panther band, sang in a special church choir (JC & Co.) and continued to be spoiled rotten. She planned to go to Texas A & M to become a veterinarian, but was forced to make other plans when there were no dorm rooms available. She met her future husband, Stan, while singing in a wedding. He played the guitar. After a year of college at Texas Lutheran, they were married and soon embarked on a way to send her to college. She discovered that when the young couple was paying for college (and not her parents), her study skills and grades improved. She moved around this great state of Texas with her husband as his career with McCoy’s Building Supply grew. She finally graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, located in the dry region of Odessa, Texas. Upon a move back to Pflugerville, she began her teaching career in elementary schools. She started by teaching kindergarten children for eight years before moving up to second grade. After six years, she again moved up to fourth grade. Along the way, to this couple two princesses were born. Savannah and Scarlett were destined to be just as spoiled as their mother. After teaching 16 years in Pflugerville, it was decided that the couple should relocate to Lockhart to be closer to Stan’s work in the general office of McCoy’s in San Marcos. LeEster applied for work in the elementary schools but, alas, there were no openings. She was hired to teach seventh grade language arts and did so with great glee for a year, before moving to eighth grade. There, she truly became “The Queen of Burchville”, where she occasionally wore a crystal tiara. After a few years with the students in 8th grade, she decided to move to 6th grade. She enjoys traveling to see different parts of the United States, especially the mountains in Colorado where her best friend, who sells the tastiest barbeque in the world, lives in Durango. This summer, she went to Beaumont and was “ranch mama” to the youth group at her church as they replaced a roof damaged by Hurricane Rita. She also took a trip to Galveston. The eldest princess, Savannah, is a sophomore at Texas A&M University. She really enjoys the college life, especially dancing at “The Hall”. Scarlett, the youngest princess, is in 8th grade here at LJHS. She is very interested in sports, band and her friends. HRH likes to watch Nick at Night, CSI and Food Network on the television. In addition to the humans, the queen has a very large chocolate lab named “Festus” and two bizarre cats named “ZZ Cat” and “Wild Thing”. Although she works very hard with her students, the Queen likes to have fun with her subjects. They know that she will try many different techniques to make language arts enjoyable, as well as memorable. Perhaps one day, one of her students will grow up to be a “Queen” or “King” of a junior high classroom!
