Abbey Flynn

Abbey Flynn is beginning her 6th year of teaching at St. Francis School. Before joining the kindergarten team, Mrs. Flynn taught 3rd grade.  She is also the chair of the language arts department for the lower school.  Prior to teaching at St. Francis, she was a 4th grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary in Jefferson County.

Mrs. Flynn graduated magna cum laude from Western Kentucky University in 2003 where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree.  She also completed her Masters of Science in Elementary Education in May of 2008 with an endorsement in reading at Indiana University Southeast.   In addition to being a certified elementary teacher, she is also a certified reading specialist.

While in college, Mrs. Flynn was the state student president of the Kentucky Education Association Student Program.  She also was one of ten students in the nation selected to sit on the Advisory Committee of Student Members for the National Education Association.  The Department of Education awarded Mrs. Flynn with the Outstanding Contribution to the Elementary Education Department award her senior year.

Mrs. Flynn loves to read and write.  Her dream is to one day write children's books that will be loved and shared with students everywhere.  She also enjoys cooking and trying new ingredients in her recipes.

Mrs. Flynn is also a certified Zumba instructor at a local gym where she spends a lot of time after school.  You will find her students dancing with her and enjoying music during the school day as well.

In her free time, Mrs. Flynn loves spending time with her large family.  You can find Mrs. Flynn at Lake Cumberland during the summer soaking up the sun and enjoying water sports.
