Try out the quiz on Character Traits under "My Quizzes". I emailed parents with the password.

Parents, check out the Parents Page for a video clip link about Cyberbullying.

Rising 5th graders- check out the Summer Assignments on the left side of the page.

Reading: Mrs. James writes for Rising 6th graders:

Rising sixth graders are expected to read "The Shakespeare Scribe" for their summer reading and one other non fiction book. I recommend "The Shakespeare Stealer", which is the first book in this series, but students may choose another book. I will teach "The Shakespeare Scribe" during the first term, and we will move at a rapid pace since they will have read the book.Students should be aware of literary elements such as setting, plot, theme, and characterization. Suggested reading strategies are SQ3R- (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) or KWL ( What I know, What I want to know, What I learned ) Have a great summer!

Math: Mrs. Woods writes for Rising 6th Graders and 8th Graders:

The Arlington County Public School Website has a summer review for Math. Go to www.arlington.k12.va.us, click on “Instruction”, “Select Curriculum Areas”, select Math, and scroll down to “Summer Review”. Choose the grade level that your child just finished. These review sheets are free of charge, and the answers are provided at the end of the review. I will be giving EXTRA CREDIT for completing the sheets if the students bring them the first day of school.
