Second Essay Assignment

The criteria for this assignment is the same as Assignment #1. However, now you are the writer, not the editor.

Start with Support Paragraph 1, then add Support Paragraph 2 to the same MSword document as Support Paragraph 1. Then add Support Paragraph 3, Support Paragraph 4, Introduction, and finally the Conclusion paragraph to the same MSword document.

Each week we will write a new paragraph, and have a classmate edit your work. In week, 14 or 15 you send the Final Essay to Dr. Lisa at lisahere@cau.ac.kr for a final Essay Assignment #2 grade.

Introduction Paragraph: Write this paragraph after you have finished writing the support paragraph 1,2, and 3.  Reread your Support 1, Support 2, and Support 3 paragraphs. Then write a minimum 500 word Introduction to your paper, answering this question: If you can live forever, what do you live for?  Don’t forget to write an Essay title for the whole paper.  When you give examples use examples that you have already used in your Support 1, Support 2, and Support 3 paragraphs to give your paper unity. Use a maximum or proverb to help explain your philosophy. Question is from the novel, Twilight.

Support Paragraph 1: (Introducing yourself professionally/academically.) Rewrite your self-introduction from Portfolio 1 into an MSwrod file. The file name should be 2009xxxxHongGilDong03.doc. The paragraph should be in 3rd person. (See page 193 in Reason to Write.) You should also add habitual past sentences to contrast what your past with your present. The paragraph should be a minium of 500 words. Do not forget to write a title for this paragraph. See page 12 in your Portfolio2 for more details.

Support Paragraph 2:  Using the same MSword document you used last week. From Chapters 4 and 5: Write a minimum 500 word essay describing your perfect world. Give details about the environment, the arts, life expectancy, political activism, wealth and peace. Don’t forget to write a title for this Support number 2 part of your essay. (Hint on page 75.) When you give details about your perfect world remember to use examples from the text book pages 58-61, 78-79,85-86, your personal experiences, and something from pop culture, such as a movie, book, or song. Question from page 76 in your textbook.

Support Paragraph 3: Using the same MSword document you used last week. From Chapter 6: Write a minimum 500 word essay. Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Explain what this quote means.  Don’t forget to write a title for this Support 3 part of your essay.  When you give examples use examples from the text book pages 104, your personal experiences, and something from pop culture, such as a movie, book, or song. Question from page 117 in your textbook.

Conclusion Paragarph:  Write a minimum 500 words summarizing this paper. Include information from Support 1, Support 2, and Support 3 paragraphs. Also remember to include the quote or maximum from your Introduction Paragraph.
