4 Square Chart

The center box should have the topic sentence.  Somewhere in the sentence should be information about WHO the paragraph is about, and that they have special qualities, unique traits, or interesting characteristics.

Boxes 2,3, and 4 will need:

transition words

one sentence about the trait

one sentence proving the trait

Box 5  will have the conclusion sentence which basically restatess the topic sentence.

First Draft

Transfer the information from the 4 Square chart onto a plain sheet of notebook paper.  Remember to skip every other line.  The paragraph should be indented and consist of eight sentences.

Revise and Edit

1.Highlight transition words

Most are found at the beginning of the sentence.

2.Circle in red the character traits.

These should be the same ones from your T-chart.

3.Use a blue pen/pencil to identify the evidence that      supports your traits.

4.Does it really show the reader the trait?

5.Does the writing follow a logical sequence?

6.Use editing marks to correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors.

Does the conclusion sentence restate the topic?
