Sports Philosophy St. Luke School’s interscholastic sports program emphasizes participation, fun, competition at the highest middle school level, and safety. Our philosophy is to provide a challenging and nurturing environment where every student has an opportunity to participate on extracurricular sport teams. They will develop specific skills and knowledge of the sport, and will learn how to socially interact with their peers, respect authority, work together as a team toward a common goal, and display Christian sportsmanship. As a general rule, St. Luke prefers to accommodate all interested students in each sport. However, when facilities, equipment availability, or adult supervision limit safe involvement, a process of selection is implemented (tryouts). Some sports can provide for a large number of participants, but have limited competitive slots for participants due to league structure, such as golf and tennis. In these cases, a team competition ladder might be implemented whereas team members compete against each other for the competitive slots. Please click on a particular sport for information, or on My Calendar for a comprehensive sports calendar for the entire program.
