Why Literacy Work Stations? A literacy work station is an area in the classroom where children work alone or in small groups (2-3) using instructional materials to explore and expand their literacy. These stations are used often without the assistance of an adult. It is a special time for children to practice reading, writing, listening and speaking with letters and words. The emphasis is on hands on learning that engages students. (Debbie Diller) Literacy Work Stations in our classroom include: Listening Station Independent Reading Station Poetry Station Fine Motor Station Handwriting Station ABC Station Buddy Reading Station Pocket Chart Station Writing Station
