They use what they know from the text and the pictures to help them think about what will happen next. Week 2 Summarize As your child reads a selection, have them stop, think, and discuss what they have read to make sure they understand the story. After reading the selection, your child should then only tell you the most important parts of the story. Week 3 Evaluate Students should ask the following questions about the text during reading, and after reading: Do I like what I am reading? Do I agree or disagree with what I have read? Have I learned what it is that I wanted to learn? Has the author done a good job writing the text? Theme 1 COMPREHENSION SKILLS Week 1 Sequencing Students will put story events in correct order. Week 2 Compare and Contrast Students will identify parts of the story that are the same and different; characters, setting, and problems.
