Church Etiquette Church Etiquette

Students are to enter church in an atmosphere of reverence.

 

Announcement:  The prinicpal will announce when classes will depart for church (~9:05 a.m.).  PLEASE walk over in order starting with the Kindergarteners, then 1st grade etc.

 

Holy Water:  Children are to bless themselves, as a remembrance of their Baptism, ONLY upon entry into the church.

 

Seating:  There should be 10-12 students per pew.  Leave room in the seat for parents.

 

Signs:  Signs will be prepared by Sally Schrecker.  Classes will sit in the same order at each mass.

 

Kneelers:  Kneelers are to be put down quietly after entering the pew.  Kneelers are to STAY down for the entire Mass or Prayer Service. They are to be put up quietly at the end of the mass. Teacher will tell you when.

 

Coats:  Grades K-4 should keep their coats on during Mass.  They may only unzip them.

 

Singing and Word Responses:  All students and adults are to participate as part of the prayer. Example by everyone is KEY.

 

Communion:  Teachers are to direct their own classes to and from.

 

Bowing: Children will bow facing the altar before entering the pew

 

Exiting:  Starting from the front of Church, follow the priests quickly and quietly.  Teacher should be leading their classes out.
