Technology Applications

Recommended Grade: 8^th

Required Prerequisite: None

Technology Applications is an introductory course in different technologies including: Digital Graphics, Beginning Video Technology, and Beginning Animation. Students will use GIMP, Paint.net, Adobe Premiere, and Macromedia Flash to create projects that integrate different types of technology. They will learn skills and techniques that they can use for presentations for other classes.

Quarter 1: Digital Graphics & Animation

Digital Graphics

Using Paint.net and GIMP softwares the students will learn the basics of graphic design. We will discuss design, composition, balance, negative and positive space, creating visual interest, focal points, layout, line direction and implication.

Animation

Students will learn the basics of animating with Flash. They will create projects that incorporate elements learned in previous quarters. They will create basic animations and games.

Quarter 2: Video Technology

Students will learn how to use technology to create film projects by working in small groups to write, direct, act in and edit projects. They will practice filmmaking, story telling, acting, writing, editing, leadership, group cooperation, and responsibility using and caring for equipment.
