Spring 2008, we had lots of fun! Crazy pictures of our work with static electricity follow.
But by far, the MOST fun we had this semester had nothing to do with physics, and everything to do with "turtle-ing." For the uninitiated, this is a sneak attack on the unsuspecting victim's backpack, usually by a team of two. All contents of the backpack are removed, the backpack is turned inside out, and all contents are replaced and zipped back in. The pranksters replace the backpack without the victim (hopefully!) noticing! And when they do, the backwards, inside/out zipper is a real challenge to open. So check out the pics of some of our best turtle teams in action! It was payback time for the victims! :)
Also, our class studied the artist, Rube Goldberg, and his crazy contraptions for doing the simplest of things! Using our knowledge of simple machines, we created our own Rube Goldberg devices that did everything from feed the birds, to dropping a pencil in a cup! Check out the fun we had!!
And the 1st block (Fall 2007) class competed in the Homecoming door decorating contest and WON! FIRST PLACE! For all our hard work, we received a free breakfast: chicken biscuits, juice, coffee, fruit salad and donuts! Yum! Yum! Check out the pics of our "On Broadway" themed door!
In Fall 2008, we had a blast with a bunch of cool experiments & activities! Check out the pics below and see if you can find yourself (or a friend)!!
