English III CP

Second quarter of English III will be a busy one. We will begin the quarter by finishing up The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

We will then take advantage of the Halloween/ late Fall season by studying Dark and Twisty Voices in American literature. In this unit we will examine the poetry and short stories of writers such as Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickinson, Sylvia Plath, Charlotte Perkins-Gillman, and Kate Chopin. Throughout this unit, we will discuss how these authors' lives influenced their works.

At the end of the quarter, we will switch gears to study F. Scott Fitzgerald's class, The Great Gatsby.

 We will also be focusing on writing by a writing a process paper over The Scarlet Letter.
