The most important thing you can do to help your child become a good reader is to spend a few minutes each day reading with your child. Talk about the stories you read!  Ask your child to think of some questions to ask you when you are finished reading!

A big THANK YOU to the Owasso Education Foundation for funding our grant "Fun With Fluency".

The project utilizes the Read Naturally software program and provides students in grades 1-5 an innovative and fun way to develop and improve reading fluency and comprehension.  Fluency and comprehension are two of the five essential elements of reading instruction according to the No Child Left Behind Act.  “Fun With Fluency” has given Smith students the opportunity to practice fluency and chart their individual progress as they work toward reaching the end of the year grade-level benchmarks.
