In this laboratory, students used chromatography to separate the different plant pigments found in spinach leaves.  In the second part of the experiment, students measured the rate of photosynthesis in chloroplasts using a spectrophotometer.  Different chloroplast suspensions were used and each had the addition of DPIP, a dye that is reduced in sunlight.
