MR. MAGARIS LEARNING SOMETHING NEW and EXCITING
RULER, REGULATIONS, AND WHATEVER

MR. MAGARIS'

2008-2009

RULES, EXPECTATIONS and WHATEVER

E-MAIL - lmagaris@sacredheartacademy.org

phone - 834-2101 ext 325

Requirements for class:            Book, loose-leaf notebook, pens, pencils, calculator(graphing preferred, TI-83 plus, TI-83 plus silver or TI-84) straightedge, and compass. You will bring these to class everyday.

Class Expectations:            1. Be to class on  time.

                                                2. No food or drink in class.

                                                3. You should be prepared, courteous, attentive, and involved.

                                                4. Good citizenship.

                                                5. Ask questions when not sure. Raise your hand if and when you have a question

                                                6. Flexible-talk to teacher.

                                                7. Participate actively in class.

                                                8. If you are absent from class for any reason, YOU are responsible for getting and making up missed work. I will not chase anyone around school to get their work. You get it to me when it is due or sooner. If you need help, come and get it. If your absence is an illegal one such as truancy, or you  take a vacation during the year when school is in session, you will be responsible for the work as soon as you get back. You will take any test or quizzes that you missed as soon as you get back.

                                                9. You will be assigned a seat. Sit in it.

                                                10. Stay in your seat until the bell rings to dismiss class. If there is any time available start your homework. I don’t want to hear that it is homework to be done at home. I’ve heard that a million times. If they wanted classes 39 minutes long, they would have made them 39 minutes long.

                                                11. I expect all homework to be done on time and in entirety. I want to see work when work can be shown. I have all the answers. The book company gave me those, what they didn’t give was the work. You will.

                                                12. I realize 3 minutes is a short time to get from one class to the next and also to use the lavatory. Ask for permission if you need to use the lavatory. but don’t make it a habit.

13.  You are expected to be quiet and pay attention. I will never talk if you are interrupting so I expect you not to interrupt when I am talking. If you have to speak, raise your hand. Breaking this rule could you some time in the magic square.

14.   Rules will be added as needed.

Grades: Your grade will be determined by;

1.      Homework; You are expected to do all homework. You are expected    to have it the day it is due. I want homework, not excuses. No homework, no credit. This makes up 15% of your grade. Homework may be checked, it maybe collected and graded. You may have a homework  quiz. When doing your homework, I want to see work where work can be shown. Home work will be kept in a loose-leaf notebook so that it can be easily removed.

2.      Quizzes; These may be announced or spur of the moment. They could be homework quizzes. Don’t trust me. Quizzes make up 15% of your grade.

3.      Tests: Tests make up 70% of your grade. They will be announced. To get your grade, you will need your ID #.

4.      Participation or Lack of Participation Grade: You will start at a certain point and points will be added to the grade for good things and taken away for bad things. For the first marking period you will start at 100 . Your grade will never go higher than that.

Fire drill procedure:            In case of a fire drill, students will leave the room in a quiet, orderly fashion. Students will proceed out the classroom door, turn left and exit by the Clare Hall door. If you are 1st to the door, open both doors and hold them open. Head toward Main St. and stay to the right and head down the sidewalk. It is the utmost importance that you are quiet so that you hear any instructions that may be given. If the exit is blocked, proceed to the next available exit.

Heading to be used on your homework papers:
