Class Notes and Reminders – November 6, 2009

Thanks to all parents who attended last week's conferences. Your comments/suggestions are duly noted. Please feel free to contact me with any additonal ideas or questions.

·       Your child has a Home Language Survey that should be completed by you and returned as soon as possible, please.

·       We will be going on our first field trip for the year this Tuesday. If your child is not going, he/she should stay home that day. If one or two parents are available to go with us as chaperones, we would appreciate it.

·       This year’s PSIA Practice Spelling List is in the student folders. Please have your child rehearse these words. I will incorporate some of them in our weekly spelling lists.

·       The spelling assignment for the week of November 2^nd is due on Monday, 11-09-09. The Spelling Test will be given on Wednesday, 11-11-09, since we have the field trip on Tuesday.

·       Some students need more pencils, erasers, and/or sharpeners. Please ask your child about their needs.

·       *We’ve started multiplication. By now, you should have seen the results of the first quizzes in your child’s folder. Some students need to re-do their multiplication quizzes since they scored less than 85% on the timed quiz. 1½ minutes is allotted for each quiz, 2’s through 12’s. We will be quizzing daily, depending on student readiness.

·       Reading should be done daily for at least 20 minutes, after which Reading Logs should be filled and signed by a parent.

·       Finally, I would love to have graded student work for our portfolios once you’ve reviewed it. Any work you want back will be distributed at year’s end, ISA,
