Welcome!

Hello to my former students that knew me as Ms. J! To my new students, I just got married and my new name is Mrs. Norman. It will be documented as Ms. Jurena for a few months, but all the official changes should be made soon...please be patient! As of right now, my email is still my maiden name. I can't wait to meet all my new students and see my former students again. See you soon on the first day of school! Don't forget about summer reading...see below!

Incoming Freshmen PAP English I Students:

For your summer reading assignment, please read one of the listed  titles recommended for high school students by the Texas State Library Association for 2008-2009, commonly called the TAYSHAS List. The following website contains this year's llist of books:

http://www.wiredforyouth.com/books/index.cfm?booklist=taysha  (Note: If this address doesn't work, simply search for "TAYSHAS")

Students who read books from an earlier list do NOT need to read another selection. The PAP English I teachers wish to offer more choices for students and families in regards to theme, content, and style. Happy reading!

To all students: Please refrain from purchasing novels from the PTSA bookstore until after school begins. There have been many changes at CHHS since last May, and both the 9th and 10th grade English Language Arts teams have adjusted planned reading lists.

Thanks,

Ms. J and now Mrs. Norman

My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure.

    Students and Parents -

Check this out! What do you think? Have you been a victim of texting in your English class? Is your teacher a victim of your writing with "texting language"? Is this acceptable in a formal setting? (your job one day, school, college) When you turn in a formal essay, is it text clear or have you slipped up before? Is this report accurate and where are we headed with teens texting constantly?
