CHHS SUMMER READING 2009

9th (Regular)- Read one of the following: The Opposite of Invisible by Liz Gallagher, Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson.

9th Pre-AP and GT freshmen- Both are required: A Separate Peace by John Knowles and Waiting for Odysseus by Clemence McLaren.

10th (Regular)- Read one of the following: Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Princess Bride by William Goldman, and Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.

10th Pre-AP- Both are required: Oedipus Rex by Sophocles and Once and Future King by T. H. White

GT World Studies- Both are required: Man Searching for Meaning by Viktor Frankl and Oedipus Rex by Sophocles

11th (Regular)- This one is required: The Traveler's Gift by Andy Andrews

11th Pre-AP- Both are required: Anthem by Ayn Rand and The Awakening by Kate Chopin

11th AP and American Studies - Both are required: The Road by Cormac McCarthy and The Awakening by Kate Chopin.

12th (Regular)- This one is required: Grendel by John Gardner.

12th AP- Must read: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and pick one additional title from the following: 1984 by George Orwell, Emma by Jane Austen, The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, and A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
