Hello. My name is Mrs. Thompson and this year begins my 20th year as a school counselor in the Northern Lehigh School District. Many, many years ago, before raising my children, I was a teacher. I began my teaching career in a combination grade 2-3 in the Prince George's County School District in Maryland. The following years I spent teaching grade 6 in two different school districts near Philadelphia, the Upper Darby and the Lower Merion School District. I grew up in Hermitage PA, which is located on the border between Pennsylvania and Ohio, and I am a graduate of Hickory High School. My college years were spent at Wittenberg University in Springfield Ohio where I received my bachelor's degree in education. I received my master's degree in counseling from Kutztown University. Following graduate school I attended the Family Institute of Philadelphia for three more, specialized years of clinical study in family therapy. For many years I worked part-time as a family therapist for Family Life Services. I live with my husband and our Old English Sheepdog, Riley. Riley is now 8 years old, which makes her 56 years old in "dog years." She is a lot of fun and is really smart! Riley most enjoys running after deer in our woods, "visiting" the horses in the pasture near us, or, watching animal shows on television. Her favorite movie is "Lassie" and her favorite tv program is "Animal Kingdom." When we aren't home Riley is on squirrel patrol. She sits for hours looking out windows, watching for squirrels to dare get near her house.* *See Riley in above photo at Bass Lake, Michigan. Our grown daughters are busy pursuing their careers. Courtney lives in New York City where she is a producer/writer of documentaries for the National Geographic Channel, and Caitlin is a clinical psychologist in research psychiatry in Rochester, New York. Although I enjoy seeing new places my favorite place to be is on the beach on Lake Michigan.
