The Goal for All LIS Students Is to Become
INDEPENDENT USERS
of the LMC
and Its Resources

The Library Media Center (LMC) is available for all those associated with the Lucaya International School.

Information Literacy (previously called Library Skills) and Information Technology (IT) classes are scheduled on a regular basis for all students in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) Years 1 - 6.

Pre-K and Kindergarten enjoy regular storytime sessions. A weekly check-out time allows them an opportunity to look at and share books with their classmates plus find a book to take and share at home.

Primary students have both Information Literacy and IT classes with Ms. A. J. Nelson.

Scheduled IT sessions for Years 7 and 8 are also a part of the curriculum. Ms. Erin Carroll is the instructor. Mrs. Sheila Robinson teaches those in Years 9 and 10 who have opted for Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Years 9 and 10 choose either ICT or Art.

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten children enjoy weekly storytime activities plus a time to preview books and select one to take home to share with family.

  • Years 1 -6 come on a regular basis to the LMC. Included are lessons in Information Literacy and IT integrated with their Units of Inquiry. Extra sessions are booked as needed by the classroom teacher.

    • Of particular importance is learning how to do independent research, how to extract important facts pertinent to their projects, and to create final presentations suitable for sharing with others.

    • Years 1 - 6  also have a scheduled time to explore and select books. In addition, they are welcome to visit the LMC to borrow and return books independently as the need arises.

  • No formal Information Literacy classes are scheduled for Years 7 - 13, but they are encouraged to come individually or in small groups to use the LMC. Use by whole classes are scheduled by the teacher as needed.

  • Staff is welcome in the LMC and to all its available resources as needed.

  • Parents are welcome to visit the LMC.

The LMC is always looking for Volunteers who would like to donate time to assist in various ongoing LMC projects. Please stop in or e-mail
    lislmc@excite.com if you are interested
    .
