LESSON PLAN Unit: 4th Quarter I. General Principle of the Lesson: The fourth quarter of school we will continue working on our music objectives. (listed below in IIIb). The Mixed Chorus will be preparing for their Spring concert. The ACappella Choir, Men's, and Women's Choirs will be preparing for their spring concert. Both concerts are May 14th. II. Standards/GLE’s: Provided below. III. Lesson Sequence: a. Anticipatory Set: Warm-ups. b. Statement of Objective and Purpose: We will be doing the basics. 1.The student will learn to sing accurately in a large group (eventually a small one). 2. The student will show good posture, breath support, diction, tone quality, and intonation. 3. The student will work to sing the appropriate part while blending, balancing, and responding to the conductor’s gestures. 4. The student will interpret rhythm and expression as they appear in music. 5. The student values the self-confidence and personal satisfaction that is achieved through expressing oneself musically. G1.5, G2.1, G2.5, FA1, FA3, HP1 c. Instructional Input: Work and listen to a variety of music. d. Checking for Understanding: part work, scrambling, worksheets, and piano singing. e. Modeling: Echo singing, listening, observing others f. Guided Practice: Singing daily g. Independent Practice: Scrambling-can they carry their part by someone else? h. Depth of Knowledge: Level 1-Comprehension-do they understand. Level 2-Application-singing at the piano and identifying material discussed. Level 3-Analysis-compare and contrast the different songs they are singing and different voice qualities as a choir. Level 4-Evaluation-how did they do, how did they do compared to others-individually and as a choir. IV. Assessment: Singing at piano -3 or 4 at a time, every other week for a grade. Observation-are they participating daily. Written final at the end of the sememster. Worksheets occasionally.
