9th Grade Health – Body Systems and Anatomy

Welcome to the first year of real health class!!!  Class is now three times a week.  (Not like those easy classes in 7th and 8th grade.)  Therefore, more is expected of you, inside and outside of class.   You are now officially high school students.  Everything you do academically from this point on will be on your official transcripts for college.  If you don’t pass 9th grade health class this year, you can take it again next year, and the next, and the next…..get the point?  Work hard and pass it the first time!!!  You cannot graduate until you pass this class! (There have been seniors taking freshman health!!!)

Although the grades are important, what is more important to me is that you attain the information discussed in class.  The topics that are discussed in class this year will come up again and again during your lifetime.  Please make every effort to make life applications to all that is taught in this class.  Your life extends beyond high school and your life is only as good as your Health!

The Choices I  Make, make Me!

Rules:

  • When the bell rings, the door shuts, and class starts.  Hopefully you’re inside.  If not, you make the warning list.  A second offense will result in detention.  A third offense will be forwarded to the main office, as well as an unexcused absence.  If a previous teacher needs you, make sure that you come to class with a pass, or you will be sent back.

  • Please do not ask to be excused from class to work with any other teacher.  We need all the time we can get together.  It’s easy to fall behind.

  • When leaving the room, you need a pass.  If it is to the office or to another teacher, have it initialed and timed. Please keep bathroom breaks to a minimal and only directly before or at the end of class, if at all possible.

  • You are adults.  I will treat you like adults, until you show me otherwise.  Some topics we will be discussing this year must be handled with maturity and respect for the sake of others in the classroom.  We will have fun this year, but we must also understand the many topics discussed are sensitive issues to some of your classmates.  Please show courtesy and compassion when those topics arise.

  • Please interact with me!  I love interaction and reasonable and on task questions when teaching.  If you have any questions for me, please don’t ever hesitate to ask before or after class as well.

  • When you are absent, it is you responsibility to gather missed work (handouts, notes, announcements, etc.)  Please see a classmate or me for needed work or assignments.
