Lily Rose's B-day
Waiting For Lily Lily didn’t want to come out. Mommy just wanted to hold her and kiss her. Daddy sat with watchful eyes waiting for any signs of her arrival. But Lily still wasn’t ready to be born. Lily sat inverted in a dark and warm womb, forgetting everything about the place she had come from over nine months ago. Every once in a while, a burst of memory made her stir and shift her position. Mommy watched a hawk gliding on the air current outside of her hospital room’s window. The doctor examined her and decided to use stronger medicine to bring Lily out. Daddy held his Bible saying silent prayers and watching Mommy’s face and belly. It happened fast! One moment Lily sat in comfort, and the next, crushing forces began squeezing and pushing her out. She began to panic and struggle, but the crushing force increased. The fluid around her drained away slowly. Daddy held Mommy’s hand as her face began to take on the countenance of agony. The Doctor checked and checked and checked once more. Mommy asked for relief and the Doctor and nurse gave it to her. “Two centimeters… Four centimeters… EIGHT CENTIMETERS!” The last of Lily’s memories from that other place began dissolving out of her consciousness. Then Daddy said a prayer. “Lord, keep them safe! Make Lily’s path as clear and as smooth as your will may allow. Even as she arrives into this world, allow her spirit to hold the magic and grace that exists beyond what we know and understand. Give her love, imagination, and peace within so that she knows how wanted and needed she is in this world.” Immediately, Lily’s remaining memories of the other place solidified inside her consciousness. Even a few that had escaped returned. These memories moved to a hidden section of her developing brain never explored by man. Mommy grabbed Daddy’s hand. “NINE CENTIMETERS!” Then the Doctor said she wasn’t coming! Mommy and Daddy glanced at each other; worry written all over their faces. “Not like that, anyway,” said the Doctor. So they wheeled Mommy down to the Operating room. Daddy put on his green scrubs and walked into the room. Mommy and Daddy held hands while the Doctors took hold of Lily. Lily screamed while Mommy and Daddy cried tears of joy.
“Welcome to the world, Lily!” TB
