Agenda Book

Please sign your child’s agenda every day. This is our way of communicating with each other. You will also find all homework assignments written in the agenda.
I will check and stamp each agenda first thing in the morning.

Snacks
Please send in a small, healthy, and easy to eat snack each day for your child. We will eat our snack in the morning. Please consider this snack brain food for your child.
We suggest you leave at home: sweet, sugary and highly salty foods. Please do not send in candy, as we will not be giving out candy as rewards. Please think about these options: apples, bananas, grapes, cheese squares, graham crackers, yogurt, cottage cheese, bagels,or cut up vegetables.

A.R./Accelerated Reader
Homework every night includes 15+ minutes of reading an A.R. Book appropriate for your child.
Your child will also have time in class to read A.R. books.
Each child should take at least one A.R. test a week.

Homework
Homework will be given each night, Monday through Thursday. This will include 15+ minutes of reading each night.
Homework will be meaningful and support what we learned in class that day.
There will be some long term projects as well.

Birthdays
We will share birthday snacks at snack time or after lunch.
If you would like to send in a treat for your child’s birthday, cookies or muffins are great!
Due to a new Health Department Policy homemade snacks will no longer be allowed. Store-bought goods MAY be brought IF all ingredients are listed on the label.

Required Physical Education
Our students are now required to have 150 minutes of Physical Education a week. Physical Educationwill be taught during regular P.E. time and the remaining time will be taught by the classroom teacher. We will be engaged in daily physical fitness activities both inside and outside. Please make sure your child has sneakers for every day.
