Meet Mrs. Childers

Welcome to my website!

Like many of my students, I am a transplanted Californian.  My dad was in the Navy, so my family moved up and down the coast of California every couple of years until I landed in San Diego.  I graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Sociology.  By the time I graduated, I was deeply involved in my first career - managing several beeper businesses in San Diego and Las Vegas for nineteen years.

My husband, Guy and I later moved to Las Vegas so he could finish up his Business Accounting degree at UNLV and to be closer to my extended family.   We have  two wonderful sons and two small dogs, Chewy and Chester, who literally have us wrapped around their paws!

This is my eleventh year teaching for the Clark County School District.  The first five years, I was a substitute teacher.  I took two or three long term positions every year, in addition to daily assignments that gave me experience in all elementary grades.  Once I completed my Masters Degree in Education at Nova Southeastern University, I began teaching 4th grade at Addelair Guy Elementary School.  I was at Guy for three years until I transferred to Anthony Saville Middle School at the beginning of the 2006 - 2007 school year.  In addition to being an avid reader myself, reading has always been my favorite subject.  For this reason, it is a pleasure to be teaching reading!
