Mrs. Lange's First Grade Class

Welcome to First Grade! We have many exciting things that we will do this year. We will continue the Jolly Phonics that the students started last year in Kindergarten. It will become Jolly Grammar which continues to focus on the sounds, but deals more with writing. We also have many great hands on math skills that we will be doing with Kathy Richardson materials. The skills are set at a developmentally appropriate level. We have many science and social studies themes that we will be diving into throughout the year. Karen Phelps the Benton County Naturalist does monthy science and social studies lessons with the students. She brings many great ideas to the classroom. We will also have many great author studies throughout the year. A little bit about myself. I will be starting my eleventh year of teaching at Benton Community. I recieved my BA from the University of Northern Iowa. I then recieved my MA from Coe College. I have been a BOBCAT since I started kindergarten. GO BLUE AND GOLD!!!
