ELL Books Your first grade child will be bringing home a book every night that has been checked out from the first grade ELL cart. This book is at their independent reading level. The level of the book is located on the back of the book. It is indicated by a letter and number. We ask that your child read this book to an adult in the home. We will include in the plastic folder some helpful hints for you to use as your child's reading skills develop. As your child's skills, understanding and fluency increase, your child's reading level will change. At the end of first grade we would like to see your child reading at a Level 16 or beyond. Please be sure to sign the paper your child brings home with the book and return it to school the next day and your child will bring home another book. The children are so excited to be reading independently, snuggle up with them and enjoy their new learning! The end of April we will be asking that all the ELL books are returned to school so we can have them organzied and catalogued for next year.
