These early years are crucial to your child and their reading skills. I've listed some picture book authors for you and your child to share with each other. These stories/books are "read alouds" for you and your child to enjoy. Some of these authors are Nonfiction writers and some are Fiction writers. Your child needs a good balance of both kinds of books. Research shows that if you have a son, they will be a more involved and interested reader if there is Nonfiction available.

As you read with your child ask your child to find different letters, words, vowels, consonants and punctuation. Ask them what they think may happen next, how would they solve the problem and what do they think will happen at the end of the story.

This list will get you started, I will add more as the year goes along.
