"The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of information." (Information Power)

The Library Media Center underwent major renovations in the summer of 2006 to create a state-of-the-art library and research facility. Students now have access to over 6000 books, 35 journals, and 20+ databases. The Library Media Center has wireless, high speed Internet access and 21 laptops. The library is comprised of three rooms: a quiet room for reading and study, a second room for small group discussion and projects, and a third room for presentations and library research instruction. We at Sacred Heart Academy are very excited to provide our students with such a facility that will prepare them with the knowledge and research skills necessary to perform fluently upon entering college.

Points of View Reference Center
Points of View Reference Center™ is a full-text database designed to provide students with a series of essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. The database provides 250 topics, each with an overview, point,counterpoint and Critical Thinking Guide. Points of View Reference Center contains a balance of materials from all viewpoints, including 1,143 main essays, leading political magazines from both sides of the aisle, newspapers, radio & TV news transcripts, primary source documents and reference books. The database also offers guides to debate, developing arguments and writing position papers. The database includes over 3,250 titles, with more than 2,250 in full text.

SIRS
SIRS Knowledge Source contains thousands of full-text articles exploring social, scientific, health, historic, economic, art, political, global, and humanities issues.

WORLD BOOK ENCYCLOPEDIA
WORLD BOOK ONLINE - contains every article from the 22 volume encyclopedia print set plus 8 research libraries (U.S. History; World History; Social Science; Science & Mathematics; Literature; Political Science & Law; Language; and Philosophy & Religion. Includes state-of-the-art multimedia, links to editor-reviewed Web sties, atlas dictionary, Spanish language encyclopedia, and "Explore NY."
