Hi! My name is Melissa Rafson.  This will be my first year teaching at St. Francis.  I am very excited to be working alongside Ms. Brigette in the Junior Kindergarten. 

I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky.  I graduated with honors from Indiana University in Bloomington with a Bachelors of Science in education.  My major was early childhood education.  I enjoy working with this age group because it is a time they experience many firsts, including their first formal schooling.  Both students and the teachers form connections and bonds that impact their entire childhood. 

As a part of my teacher training, I traveled to Auckland, New Zealand to teach kindergarten and learn in a new culture and environment.  This was the most influential experience both personally and professionally. 

In my spare time I enjoy scrapbooking, exercising, reading, and skiing in the winter.   I enjoy spending time with my friends, family, and dog Casper.
