Few children learn to love books by themselves. Someone has to lure them into the wonderful world of the written word; someone has to show them the way. - A Father Reads to His Children by Orville Prescott Judy has a long history with St Francis School. A kindergartner in 1965 when the school first opened its doors, she is an alumna (1974) and the parent of an alumnus, Matt (2002). Judy has been a teacher of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade language arts and social studies. This year she happily returns to the library. She has served on many St. Francis School committees, including the philosophy and mission committee for the school’s latest accreditation and the 2005 head search committee, and has participated as an ISACS visiting team member to approve accreditation for another independent school. Judy has left the building in her lifetime to run her own business, to live on a kibbutz, and to be a mom. She is a two-time graduate of Indiana University, is always in pursuit of professional development, is never seen without a book, and is continuously amazed and inspired by poetry-writing kids.
