During the entire month of February,

the Kindergarten teachers will be assessing the children for the 2nd trimester report card. Here are a few things to review with your child during the next few weeks before we begin testing:

  • Shapes: identify and name a sphere, cone, cube, and cylinder
  • Counting: by 1’s, 5’s, & 10’s to 100
  • Numbers: name the numbers 0-25 (out of order)
  • Writing Numbers: write the numbers 0 – 9 without copying
  • Sets: make and count a set of objects up through 20
  • Sorting: sort a group of objects by color, shape and size
  • Concepts of Time: Tell if an event happens in the morning or in the evening (examples: breakfast, waking up, dinner, and bedtime).
  • Scissors: use scissors to cut out a shape
  • Vocabulary Words: read and spell the 10 words (I, see, my, like, a, to, and, go is,  & here)
  • Word Family Words: spell the –at and –an word family words
  • Beginning and Ending Sounds: identify the sound that comes at the beginning and the end of a word
  • Rhyming Words: identify if 2 words rhyme & create another word that rhymes
  • Segmenting Words: make each sound in a word
  • Blending Sounds: put each sound in a word together to say the complete word
  • Letters: name all capital & lower case letters of the alphabet (out of order)
  • Sounds: make the sound for each letter of the alphabet (out of order)
  • Journal Writing: write the sounds you hear in a word without copying
