Recess Rules:

Snack Time

  • Students sit at a table to eat their snack.
  • They need to throw away their own trash.
  • If they want to save a part of their snack, they need to put it in the on the snack basket.

Swings

  • Students wait on the “X” for their turn.
  • They count 10 swings (each time feet are up).
  • They hold on with both hands.
  • They need to face forward.
  • No pushing other children to go higher (get teacher if child cannot swing).
  • If they don’t get off after 10 swings, they don’t use swings for that day.

Structure

  • Students slide down on their bottoms.
  • No running/walking up slides.
  • No running around/under the structure (no tag).
  • If they don’t follow structure rules, they don’t use structure for that day.

Equipment

  • Equipment cannot be brought onto the black foam areas (swings or structure).
  • Students can use balls in the far open space. They cannot kick in the direction of the Science and Art Rooms. If balls go over the fence three times, the balls have to be put away. (Jump ropes, hula hoops, & bikes can be used after all 3 classes learn how to use them).

Bells

  • When a teacher rings a bell, they freeze and look at the teacher who is holding the bell. (They need to freeze with both feet on the ground.)
  • The first bell is to get water, to go to the bathroom, to put away equipment, & to bring in the snack baskets. (Students can get water or go to bathroom anytime before the bell.)
  • The second bell is to line-up on a color dot looking at their teacher. They cannot change dots. (Students cannot get water after the 2nd bell.)
