Drama Club Information 2009-'10 School Year The MMS Drama Club is open to any MMS student in grades 5-8. Drama Club students will be exclusively responsible for the Christmas and spring plays. Therefore, those interested in Drama Club will be required to fill out an application and audition for a spot in the club. Students who have previously participated in MMS drama will be given first preference. An announcement will be made about the date for auditions after school begins. Drama Club will meet one day a week after school from 3-5. This day will probably be Tuesday. These days will be used to learn drama basics through games and will also be used for rehearsals for the Christmas and spring plays. If you are an athlete for a cheerleader and are interested in Drama Club, please see Mrs. McNatt. We will try to work around practice schedules if possible, but there are no guarantees. We hate to leave out these students. Some of our athletes have been the "stars" of previous plays. Drama Club Rules 1. Members are expected to be at all Tuesday rehearsals unless they have an excused absence. Excused absences include: - Doctor or dental appointments - illness or family illness - previously planned activities Any member with two unexcused absences will be asked to leave the club. If at all possible (especially with appointments and previously planned activities) the club member needs to notify one of the sponsors in advance. 2. Any student who is not picked up on time after rehearsals twice will be asked to leave the club. 3. Drama Club members should be willing and able to memorize lines and work well with other members. 4. Members must be willing to come to extra rehearsals in the weeks preceding performances. 5. Members and parents must be willing to pay a small fee to be applied to the cost of costumes for the performances (not to exceed $20.00). We have always had an extremely successful Drama Club at MMS. We have so many talented students and I always look forward to beginning each new school year with them. The other students and teachers really enjoy the performances. Being in Drama Club requires a commitment on the part of members and parents, but that is what it takes to have a quality program. Thanks for your interest.
