Our current theme is "We're a Family."  In this theme we are learning many new things.  Among them are:

Phonemic Awareness
     blending and segmenting onset and rime.

Phonics/Letter Names
     sounds for Tt, Bb and Nn.

High Frequency Words
   my, like

Reading Strategies
   evaluate; predict/infer; summarize; phonics/decoding

Comprehension Skills
    story structure: characters and setting; inferences: drawing conclusions
    

Vocabulary
     movement words; family words; exact naming words; types of clothing; action words; order words

Fluency
   build reading fluency.

Concepts of Print
     capital letters, end punctuation and return sweep

Writing
     recording observations; journals; grocery list; choosing a good title; order words

*Our Phonics Library story this week is Baby Bear's Family.

*We will meet our next Alphafriend, Benny Bear.  He will teach us all about the letter Bb and the sound it makes. 

*Our read aloud story is entitled Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

*Our big book for this week is Shoes From Grandpa.
