Writing Workshop

Goal:  To encourage children to become independent writers through teacher modeling, independent practice and conferring.

Writing Workshop consists of:

• Mini-Lesson
• Writing and Conferring
• Sharing

We use The Units of Study for Primary Writing:  A Yearlong Curriculum.  This series is written by Lucy Calkins, a nationally acclaimed expert in writing instruction.  Below are pictures of the teacher resources that I use to guide our mini-lessons:
