Literacy Work Stations

Literacy Work Station-Definition An area within the classroom where students work alone or interact with one another, using instructional materials to explore and expand their literacy skills. It is a place where a variety of activities reinforce and/or extend learning introduced in reading and writing workshop. Children will practice reading, writing, listening and speaking. Our work stations are: - Computer Station

- Making Words/ABC Station
- Pocket Chart Station
- Handwriting Station
- Sight Word Station
- Poetry Station
- Overhead (Promethean) Station
- Big Book Station
- Buddy Reading Station
- Writing Workshop Station
- Classroom Library Station
Work stations should be in full operation by October. It is important to establish routine and model so that students are able to work independently. This is a fantastic time for volunteers to come into the classroom.
