Story: Splash!
Phonics: Short e sound and word families
Poems: Thanksgiving Poems
Reading Workshop: We will:
· read literature related to our social studies lessons
· learn what the “big idea” of a story is (i.e. The big idea in Cinderella is that it is what is on the inside that counts.)
· work to sustain and increase stamina for a longer period of time while reading independently
Math: In math this week we will:
· make a bar graph
· problem-solve using graphs
· take the chapter 4 test on Thursday
Math vocabulary for Chapter 4: tally chart, pictograph, bar graph.
· Chapter 5 (addition) intro on Friday
Writing: We will:
· discuss that writers write about things that happen in their lives.
· work at zooming in on one small moment and writing the story across several pages
· sounding out and stretching out words and applying letters to the sounds that they hear (we also practiced this earlier in the year with slinkies).
