Stop, Think, Go! Stop, Think, Go!

As positive reinforcement throughout the day, children receive stickers for their collections.  I usually find at least one positive behavior from every child every day.

 

In our room, we also have a large stoplight that helps us remember all of our daily rules and routines.  Every child starts out in green and can be moved to yellow and 5 minutes of playtime will be lost.  If a second concern arises, the student's name is moved to the top of the red and 10 minutes of playtime is lost.  Finally, if students need to be move to the bottom of the red then all playtime is lost.  Sometimes I call this benchtime.  In reality, children are given quite a bit of leeway, unless I need to continually remind them to follow rules. 

 

 

You can help by encouraging your child to stay in "the green" by reminding them to focus, keep hands to themselves and to complete quality work. This is what our light looks like:
