Charles Babbage--the Father of Computers

General Information for Comp App I:

During the semester, you will learn

  • Parts of and history of computers

  • How to use word processing, database and spreadsheet (just an introduction!)

  • How to create your own Web Page

  • How to use Power Point for presentations

  • How to use a programming language

  • Computer ethics

  • How computers are used in society and problems with computer use

  • Movie Maker for videos

  • Alice programming

  • For all classes:
There are some rules you will have to follow so we can have a smoothly run and efficient classroom: no eating or drinking in this class; no gum chewing; no throwing of papers, books, etc.; stay in your seat. The first time you are tardy, you will get a warning. Any further tardies will result in a detention. You will be using the Internet, and so you must sign and hand in the Internet Use Agreement. It should go without saying that you must use proper netiquette at all times.

For a good grade, hand in all papers on time, do all the work assigned, correctly answer the assigned questions, and BEHAVE in class! Both classes can be fun and interesting if you decide to take the "right" attitude--the classes really are not very hard!
