May 21-25
We are now officially in our 4th and FINAL marking period of fifth grade!! Where does the year go?? It will be a fast paced, every busy flash to the end...so your student will need to be organized and keep up with the business at hand.
We are just about halfway through with our last science unit...the body systems.
Puppet plays will be performed on June 1st in the afternoon. We have begun the work on writing and will be bringing home the info on how to construct the puppets. Our May Crowning last week was absolutely beautiful and our class did an awesome job!
Casual day/bagel day on May 25th! Students may wear shorts and tshirts, but appropriate for a Catholic school. Sandals may be worn if they have straps to hold on the back of the foot....no flip flops!
Field day on May 23rd at 9:45 am. Shorts and tees are permitted, but gym shoes with socks must be worn, no sandals. Upcoming DARE shirt day....we will let you know!
Here is what we are studying: English- Prepositions
Religion-Mary, disciple of Jesus, May Crowning.
Reading- we are reading Bridge to Terabithia.
Science- We are finally beginning our final unit on the body systems.
Spelling- Pretest on Tuesday, final test on Friday. Please check back to Teacherease and see if there are any missing assignments that your child may have missed, especially if they get sick. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. If you have ANY questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. You may email me at either ksant@stpatrickwhitelake.org or mrsksant@gmail.com. You may also call here at school and leave me a message: 248-698-3248 ext. 107. UPDATE!! Many parents asked if students could have water bottles at their desks this year. I have asked Mrs. Budchuck and she said we could allow them this year. I feel confident our fifth graders will be discreet, careful and be responsible with this privilege, so starting immediately your student may bring in a water bottle to have in the classroom. The only favor I ask is NOT to freeze/chill it as the sweat from the bottle will cause water issues during work time. Mrs. Kathie Sant
