Religion Class Policies
What to do before, during, and after class

BEFORE CLASS

What you should bring to class

·  religion copy book

·  religion folder (use a yellow one if you have one)

·  at least two pencils or pens (except red pens)

·  a few sheets of loose-leaf paper (keep them in your folder)

·  student planner

·  religion textbook (you may leave it in your desk)

·  Bible (for grades 6-8)

Your Textbook

·  Your textbooks are relatively new!

·  Take care of them, and leave them in your desk when you don’t need them.

·  Do not use someone else’s textbook- borrow one from Mr. Rickbeil if you forget.

Before The Bell Rings

·  Line up outside the room if you are early.

·  Wait to come in until everyone in the last class has left.

·  You may walk around and socialize, just don’t run.

·  Use this time to get a drink and use the restroom. 

If you are late

·  Don’t be late- please be on time or have a pass.  You may get points for lateness.

·  Don’t be late because you were in the restroom.  If you must use the restroom, bring your books to class and then ask me.  99% of the time, I will say yes.

After the Bell Rings

·  End your conversation and return to your seats.

·  You must be seated quietly 10 seconds after the bell.

·  Start the class work that will be projected on the TV screen.

AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS

Collecting homework

·  Have your homework out and ready at the beginning of class.

·  You may your work in early if you leave it in the bin.

·  If it isn’t done, fill out a homework slip and sign it.

Late homework and homework slips

·  Any work that isn’t at least ½ finished receives a homework slip.

·  Homework slips stink- but your grade will be ok if it’s just one or two.

·  Get it signed and returned by the next class to receive half credit.

·  If it is not returned, you will receive no credit.

DURING CLASS

If you forgot something

·  Let Mr. Rickbeil know, and sign out of the classroom to go to your locker.

·  Multiple “sign-outs” will lower your effort grade.

Sharpening your pencils.

·  Sharpen pencils before class or during quiet work time only.

Using the restroom

·  Please use the restroom before or after class

·  If you absolutely must, please ask to use the restroom.

·  You must sign out and sign in when using the restroom.

Class discussions

·  Participate! I want to hear from YOU!

·  Listen attentively to other students- you have a lot to learn from them!

·  Be ready at all times.

Taking notes

·  Take notes in a way that will help YOU to learn.

·  Write down things that YOU will remember.

·  DO NOT just write things down without thinking about them.

If you are absent

·  Check your homework sheet and the PCR parent portal.

·  You must make up homework, quizzes, and tests.  Class work assignments and journal entries are optional to make up.

·  You may have an additional day to do homework.  Fill out a green sheet, and get it in by the next class.  However, you are responsible for knowing what homework is due.

·  If you are absent for a long time, you may receive an extension from Mr. Rickbeil.   

·  If unexpected events come up that make it impossible to do your homework, talk to Mr. Rickbeil before the time comes to turn in your homework during class.  If you wait until class, your chances of getting extra time are not good.

AFTER CLASS

Packing up and leaving the room

·  Do not pack up before Mr. Rickbeil tells you to pack and prepare to go

·  Do not leave the classroom until Mr. Rickbeil dismisses you.
