What's with the toucan? The toucan is the class mascot of the religion classroom. He keeps a perch at the top of one of the shelves, and occasionally blesses religion classes with his presence. The toucan is most famous for his role in teaching the Sacraments in fifth grade religion classes, most notably during the toucan's annual wedding ceremony. The toucan plays other roles in the class, including an example of an Old Testament sacrifice (much to his regret) and as the famous "art critic" dring the 12-point game. The toucan was purchased from a Rainforest Cafe at the Mall of America in 1995, and has lived out his life-long desire of being the mascot of a middle-school classroom. Take the toucan with you on your travels! If you are going on vacation and would like company, apply with Mr. Rickbeil to take the toucan along on your family trip. He packs light, doesn't require an airline ticket, and is generally a gracious guest. To take the toucan, you must agree to take at least one picture for the toucan to remember his trip (which may appear on this web site). The toucan is available for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring breaks, as well as weekend trips if you are going to any interesting places with notable landmarks. If you have an upcoming trip, let Mr. Rickbeil know if you'd like to take the toucan.
