T.E.A.M. Binders

  Together Everyone Achieves More

What are T.E.A.M. Binders?

The T.E.A.M. Binder is a three ring binder that students in my class will use everyday to help develop their organizational skills and promote responsibility.Third grade is a big transitional year where the students will become more independent and really need a good organizational foundation to build upon. It contains folders, pockets, and sheet protectors. The binder is a way of maintaining effective communication between home and school. Hopefully this binder will eliminate lost homework and disorganized backpacks.

Why is it called a T.E.A.M. Binder?

The acronym T.E.A.M. stands for Together Everyone Achieves More. Our classroom theme is based on teamwork and I thought it would be a fun way to incorporate that.

What will I find inside?

Inside your T.E.A.M. Binder you will find these components:

       Zipper Pocket

This is a small pouch in the front of the notebook. It can be used for lunch money, field trip money, book orders, or any other money that may need to be turned in at school. It will also be used to hold the current week of spelling flashcards. Please do not use it to transport school supplies as it is not that durable.

    Sheet Protectors

These are used to help preserve important classroom/school information.

You will find:

  • Class list and schedule
  • Lunch menu
  • School Calendar
  • Homework helper: multiplication table, number grid, etc.
  •  Reading genre overview
  • Reading BINGO board

Other sheet protectors may be added if a need exists.

             Planner

Third graders will be responsible for keeping track of their own homework this year. Adequate time will be given for students to copy their homework assignments into their planners each day. I will be checking planners for parent signatures the first half of the school year. Later in the year, it is expected that students will begin taking responsibility for having their planners filled out; homework turned in and signed without teacher or parent support. In January, I will begin spot checking planners for completion.

     Pocket Folder

The folder will serve as a place for graded work, reading logs, notes home, homework papers, and all other paperwork to be safely transported to and from school.

T.E.A.M. Binder Rules

  • Please DO NOT draw or doodle on or in your T.E.A.M. Binder. Treat it with respect. Take good care of your T.E.A.M. Binder as you will have it all year long.
  • Please DO NOT let any of your friends have anything out of your T.E.A.M. Binders.
  • Please DO NOT put any supplies or heavy items in your zipper pocket.
  • Use your T.E.A.M. Binder! It is your useful, organizational tool. If you listen and put the papers and other items in the designated areas you will be organized. Every paper has a home. I shouldn’t see your backpack a mess!
  • When you receive a new letter or list please remove the old item.
  • Keep it clean. Try not to eat or drink anything near it (so that it doesn’t get spilled on). Remember, your binder needs to last you the whole year.
  • Bring your T.E.A.M. Binder home with you every night and bring it  back to school every morning. When you have completed your homework at home, put it back in your T.E.A.M. Binder immediately.
  • Share your T.E.A.M. Binder with your family everyday. They will be so proud of your wonderful organizational skills.

Download a copy of the T.E.A.M. Binder contract below. You will receive one with your Binder.
