The Advocacy Center, Rochester, NY
The Advocacy Center provides consumer-driven services to support people with disabilities and their families in achieving their goals. Through information-sharing, individual advocacy support, independent service coordination and educational workshops, we advance people's knowledge of resources and help them to build life-long advocacy skills. Our leadership development programs prepare individuals to help others as volunteer lay advocates, to influence policy, and to promote understanding and acceptance of people with disabilities.
The Advocacy Center is committed to Putting People First and has been for over 50 years. People with disabilities are valued members of our schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. Every person has talents and a unique perspective to share. We celebrate these contributions.
We are proud to work side-by-side with individuals with disabilities, their family members and others who care about them, to define and create a quality life of their choosing. Together, we support their achievement and success as they define it, whether in school, at work, or in the community. By Putting People First, we strive to build accessible, inclusive, communities and communities where all people are valued. |
