Each year the Green Meadow PTO sponsors an Arts in Education program.  This year Iza Trapani, an author and illustrator, sang her stories to the students and created a drawing right before their eyes.  She told stories of her move from Warsaw, Poland to America at the age of 7 with her mother.  One of the first books she remembers reading in America was a book of nursery rhymes given to her from her aunt.  Iza was always encouraged to read and draw.  It became her dream to write and draw children’s picture books.  One day while riding her bike through the woods she came across a turtle and was inspired to create, her first of many, What Am I?, an animal guessing game book.  Please enjoy our photo album below showing Iza explaining the steps an author goes through to become published.  The photos also show her singing with the children, answering their questions and drawing.
