Ident-A-Kid Ident-A-Kid is coming to our school on Tuesday, October 7th. "Application Envelopes" went home this week and will need to be returned by Tuesday if you would like for your child to participate. If you would like more information about this program, please visit the Ident-A-Kid website: www.identakid.com.
Fall Festival Fall Festival will be held on Friday, October 17th from 5pm - 9pm. If you've never been, Fall Festival is our annual carnival and it's a blast! There will be tons of games, contests, prizes, food, and fun for the whole family! Our class is in charge of the Ping Pong Toss this year. We need volunteers who would be willing to help at this booth for about an hour. You can sign up by e-mailing me or by adding your name to the sign-up sheet located outside our classroom. We need 2 volunteers per time slot! We have lots of slots to fill so any help is greatly appreciated!! I hope to see you and your family at the festival! | Times | Volunteer 1 | Volunteer 2 | | 4:15 - 5:30pm (set up) | Mrs. Lunsford | | | 5:30 - 6:30pm | | | | 6:30 - 7:30pm | | | | 7:30 - 8:30pm | | | | 8:30 - 9:30 pm (take down) | | , | Picture Day Start picking out the perfect outfit and practicing your smile because Picture Day is just around the corner! Do You Love To Cook? We recently read a story in class about 2 sisters who have their own web site devoted to their passion for cooking. If you'd like to visit the site from home, just click on the following link: http://www.spatulatta.com/. I will also have a link listed in the "Cool Web Links" section (in the main menu), in case you'd like to visit it throughout the school year. Happy cooking!
PTA & Class Money This year, our PTA is trying something new. Instead of having a bunch of fundraisers throughout the school year, they are doing away with fundraisers (with the exception of the Jog-A-Thon) and asking for families to donate $80. This amount could be given partially through your PTA membership and partially through your Jog-A-Thon donation. Checks can be made out to the Hearst PTA. Click to Download a Membership Form Our class is trying the same thing. Instead of asking for $5 here and there for field trips and such, we are asking that each family donate $20 to cover the cost of all field trips, a vocabulary workbook (Wordly Wise), and plants/supplies for our 2nd grade garden. Checks for this should be made out to Hearst Elementary. Thanks!! Author of the Month Our Author of the Month is Leo Lionni. Leo has written many great books including, Swimmy, The Extraordinary Egg, Frederick, and many more. To learn more about this wonderful author and illustrator, click on the "Author of the Month" tab in the main menu or click HERE!
